The SSI Open Water Diver Course with Adreno is your passport to a lifetime of underwater adventure. Over three exciting training days, you’ll progress from online learning and heated-pool training to sheltered shore dives and genuine offshore boat diving.

Upon successful completion, you’ll earn an internationally recognised SSI Open Water Diver certification, allowing you to dive with a certified buddy to depths of up to 18 metres anywhere in the world.

YOUR THREE-DAY DIVE ADVENTURE

Before your course—SSI online learning

Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive access to the SSI Online Training program at no additional cost.

Complete the interactive theory at your own pace, wherever and whenever it suits you. This allows us to minimise classroom time and maximise the time you spend developing practical diving skills.

Day 1—Orientation, knowledge review and heated-pool training

Your adventure begins at our Brisbane store, where you’ll meet your instructor, review your online learning, complete your theory assessment and become familiar with your diving equipment.

You’ll then move to a local heated swimming pool and take your first breaths underwater!

In the pool, your instructor will teach you how to:

• Assemble and check your scuba equipment
• Breathe comfortably underwater
• Control your buoyancy
• Clear and replace your mask
• Communicate with your buddy
• Safely enter and exit the water
• Manage common underwater situations
• Perform essential self-rescue skills

The pool provides a safe and controlled environment where you can practise until you feel comfortable and ready for open water.

Day 2—Two sheltered open-water shore dives

It’s time to swap the swimming pool for the real underwater world!

You’ll complete two shore dives at either the Tweed River or Gold Coast Seaway, depending on tides, weather and environmental conditions.

These sheltered dives provide the ideal transition from the pool to open water. Under your instructor’s direct supervision, you’ll practise your skills, improve your buoyancy and begin exploring a living marine environment.

Day 3—Two Moreton Bay boat dives

This is what makes the Adreno course such a memorable experience!

For your final training day, you’ll complete two offshore boat dives in Moreton Bay, departing from either Manly or Cleveland.

You’ll learn about boat-diving procedures, entries and exits while putting everything you have learned into practice in a genuine offshore environment. Depending on the selected dive site and conditions, you may encounter colourful reef fish, turtles, rays, wobbegongs and many other marine creatures.

Complete your final skills and dives successfully, and you’ll emerge as an internationally recognised SSI Open Water Diver—ready for a lifetime of adventure!

SCUBA EQUIPMENT

Adreno supplies the principal scuba equipment required during your course, including:

• Dive computer
• Buoyancy Control Device
• Regulators
• Wetsuit
• Tanks
• Weights

Students are required to provide their own:

• Mask
• Snorkel
• Open-heel fins
• Dive boots

These personal items must fit correctly for your comfort and safety. A properly fitted mask prevents leaks, suitable fins improve your movement through the water, and correctly fitted boots help protect your feet.

Personal mask, snorkel, fins and dive boots are not included and must be purchased separately.

IMPORTANT COURSE INFORMATION

• The course is designed for beginners—no previous scuba experience is necessary.
• The minimum age to participate is 12 years.
• Participants under 18 require the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
• A minimum of four students is required for the course to proceed.
• Once four students are confirmed, the course is guaranteed to run, subject to weather, environmental conditions and operational safety requirements.
• If the minimum number is not reached, your booking will be transferred to the next available course date.
• Courses are limited to a maximum of six students per instructor.
• All participants must complete the required medical questionnaire.
• If you answer “Yes” to a relevant medical question, you may be required to obtain medical clearance before participating.
• Please complete the medical questionnaire well before the course begins.
• You must be able to swim 200 metres without stopping. There is no time limit, and any swimming stroke may be used.
• You must also be able to float or tread water for 10 minutes using any method.
• Shore and boat-dive locations are subject to tides, weather, sea conditions and operational requirements.
• A detailed itinerary containing confirmed times, dates, meeting points and addresses will be emailed before your course.
